Yemen and the USA discussed here on Saturday the underway arrangements for holding the 7th meeting of the Group of Friends of Yemen in Riyadh next April.
This came during a meeting gathered Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed al-Sa'adi and Deputy Assistant Secretary at the U.S. Treasury Department Andrew Baukol, in the presence of Finance Minister Sakhr al-Wajih.
They reviewed issues relating to cooperation between the Finance Ministry and the Treasury Department and the possibility of supporting the state's budget and the Yemeni government's efforts to carry out the national dialogue's outcomes.
Al-Sa'adi underlined the government's adherence to strengthen the current and future cooperation with the United States, lauding the assistance provided by the U.S. government to promote the stability and development paths in Yemen.
For his part, the U.S. official accentuated the U.S. administration's readiness to provide all support needed to implement the national dialogue's outcomes, and to urge the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to back the Yemeni government efforts aimed to handle the challenges to cover the budget deficit.
Baukol pointed to efforts the U.S. would make to urge the member states and organizations in the Friends of Yemen Group to fulfill their financial pledges to Yemen, expressing appreciation of the reforms the Yemeni government has carried out.
