Minister of Fisheries Wealth Mohammad Shamlan discussed on Saturday with the UNDP expert team support for fishery sector in the country. The meeting dealt with aid to be presented by the UNDP for the fishery sector in Yemen under the signed agreement between the government and UNDP for supporting the economic sectors in the country (agriculture, industry and fishery). Head of the expert team made clear that the UNDP would focus on supporting the fishery industries, qualifying fish organizations and fishermen, evaluating fish sources and stocks, creating a fishery national strategy, reinforcing technical capabilities of employees in the ministry and establishing a fish information center to provide a complete database. These projects aim to regulate the fishery sector in Yemen and to assist in alleviating poverty and unemployment through hiring as many as possible in the coastal provinces, the UNDP team head said.
