President Abd Rabbo Mansour Hadi on Saturday slated the security
performance of the security authorities, after the prison break occurred
on Thursday in Sana'a central prison.
Twenty-nine prisoners, including 19 linked to terrorism escaped
during the attack that also led to killing seven guards and policemen
and injuring four others.
"Terrorist attacks would not reach such
extent, if the security performance is at the required level," Hadi
said during his meeting with senior security officials during a surprise
visit to the Interior Ministry.
He stressed the need to raise
the readiness, particularly in the capital, Sana'a. "Security is an
absolute priority in a state and government structure. Every official
must be able to perform his security duties flawlessly."
The
President urged the Ministry's officials to carry out a security map
based on 12 security jurisdiction areas in the capital within one month.
Later,
Hadi coupled with Interior Minister and heads of the various security
services made a visit to the headquarters of the central prison to be
briefed on the damage resulted by the attack and the security response
made then.
The prison break was implemented in a coordinated
attack carried out by one group of the attackers, who detonated a car
bomb as others were opening fire and firing RPG shells at the facility
to cover the break operation.
The car bomb explosion caused a
hole in the prisons wall through which the 29 prisoners fled, while
attackers covered the escape.
