Minister of Industry and Trade, Dr. Saad Eddin Bin Taleb returned to
Sana’a Thursday after his participation at the head of Yemeni delegation
in the 6th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organization (WTO)
,held recently in Bali, Indonesia.
In a statement to Saba, Bin Taleb said that the conference came up with
Bali declaration , which included the acceptance of Yemen in the
membership of the WTO, and it will get the full membership during the
next six months.
He confirmed that accession to the WTO is a
victory and a big step undertaken by the Yemeni economy in order to
achieve integration in the global economy.

pointed that Yemen would benefit from its membership in the organization
, as it will make no concessions to the fact that the customs has been
reduced to 5% since 2005 and that the Yemeni market was open ten years
ago and that Yemen would benefit from the large technology-related
investments.
The Minister of Industry noted to the efforts of the
government in seeking to join the WTO since its request for membership
in 2000 until achieving its demand after 13 years of negotiations.
“We
will become the Member State No. 160 in the World Trade Organization
and we will abide by its laws, the most prominent of which is not to
steal others' rights and intellectual property rights ", Bin Taleb said.
