Yemen, China sign $5 mln agreement, discuss aid for dialogue

Yemen and China discussed here on Monday the possible Chinese aid to help overcome the current situation in the country and succeed the national dialogue conference.
This came in a meeting gathered Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa and Chinese Vice Foreign Minister Zhai Jun, who is visiting Yemen currently.
They reviewed the progress Yemen has made in carrying out the political settlement according to the Gulf initiative, in addition to ways to improve the mutual cooperation relations in all areas.
The Premier expressed the Yemeni government and people's appreciation of the Chinese distinctive attitudes during the 2011 crisis and its support for the Yemeni people's aspiration of change.
He also voiced his absolute confidence in the continued support of China to back the current transitional stage and to stand alongside the international community against anyone who tries to deter the current political process.
Basindwa indicated to the importance of flowing the Chinese investments to Yemen to assist in recovering the economy.
"We hope that our political partnership will be integral to our excellence economic partnership," he said, stressing the Yemen's keenness to benefit from the Chinese advanced experiences in economic and development fields.
The Chinese official lauded the efforts the government has made to enhance the security and stability and to succeed the transitional stage, stressing that the visit aims to show the Chinese government's support for the Yemeni leadership and people in the current stage and for holding the national dialogue conference.
He underscored that his country is keen to stand by Yemen economically, saying "The Chinese government encourages the investors and companies to invest in Yemen."
On the other hand, the Premier and the Chinese Vice Foreign Minister attended today the ceremonies of signing a cooperation agreement between Yemen and China.
Under which, China provides medical equipments and furniture worth of $5 million for the Yemeni-Chinese Friendship Hospital being established now by Chinese fund.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed al-Sa'adi and Chinese ambassador to Yemen Chang Hwa.
