Yemen and Egypt sign MOU in field of specifications and standards

Yemen and Egypt has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on technical cooperation in the field of specifications and standards to control the Egyptian exports and imports.
Director General of Yemeni Standardization Metrology and Quality Control Organization ,Waleed Othman, told Saba that the MOU aims to encourage the technical communication and exchange experiences to promote the cooperation and exchange of information about the activities of conformity verification, as well as the joint action to remove technical barriers to bilateral trade to improve the trade exchange quantitatively and qualitatively.
Othman pointed out that under the memorandum procedures of the conformity verification will be applied on the Egyptian products and goods exported to Yemen by the Egyptian Authority for the control of exports and imports.
The memo also stipulated the cooperation in the field of inspection and testing and exchange of information and legislations in force in both countries, as well as the establishment a point of contact to resolve the problems related to the bilateral trade and verification of the documents accompanying the exported shipments, Othman said.
Othman added that he discussed with his Egyptian counterparts a number of topics relating to the joint technical cooperation between the two countries and means of activating the signed agreement between the two sides.
