The World Bank (WB) is to reopen its office in Yemen soon, WB new country manager to Yemen Wael Zakout said Sunday.
During his meeting with Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Mohammed al-Sa'adi, Zakout asserted the Bank's keenness on re-activate its activities in supporting the reform and development efforts in Yemen.The WB would assist in mobilizing all international aid to succeed donor meeting conference for Yemen scheduled to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia early next year. Al-Sa'adi demanded the WB to lift the suspension imposed owing to the repercussions of the Yemeni political crisis on the disbursements under the Yemen portfolio effective July 28, 2011. Yemen has launched a new construction phase and needs effectual support from its all development partners, including the WB, al-Sa'adi said. He pointed that the national reconciliation government is looking forward to enhance the cooperation and partnership with all regional and international donor countries and organizations.
