Yemen's fourth five-year plan draft for development discussed

The Higher Committee to prepare the fourth socio-economic development plan 2011-2015 ,chaired by Prime Minister Ali Mujawar, discussed on Saturday the plan's draft and its executive matrix and mechanism of monitoring and evaluation.

The fourth plan draft document includes performance assessment of macroeconomic indicators during the third five-year plan for 2006-2010 and the developmental challenges expected during the fourth plan.
It also contains the plan's supportive trends and frameworks, macro-policies of the plan, the macroeconomic framework during the period of the plan and sectoral plans, in addition to themes of social protection ,social security network and the current status of local development and its rends as well as plans of the provinces.
The overall goal of the plan, submitted by Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, is to achieve a high and sustainable rate of economic growth contributing to reduction of unemployment and poverty alleviation.
The Committee praised the efforts made by Planning Ministry in the preparation of this plan in coordination with relevant ministries and bodies. It emphasized the concerned ministries and agencies to provide any comments or clarifications on the draft plan within three days.
Furthermore, the Committee emphasized the Planning Ministry to take into account the observations, including those raised in the meeting, and submit the plan in final form with its executive matrix and investment program for approval by the Committee in next meeting.
At the meeting, the premier stressed that the plan should clearly reflect in its priorities the implementation of the rest of the presidential election program and the thirty-five projects included in outcomes of the ten priorities' studies, and it should harmonize with the Millennium Development Goals.
