The image of Yemeni women in the writings of Western women is this week
lecture at Ibn Obeidallah ALSAGGAF community and heritage Center in
Sayoon city. The lecture was delivered by Dr. Masoud Said Amshosh professor of general and comparative literature at the Faculty of Arts Aden university. Professor Alsaggaf is considered one of a few Yemenis who are specialised in French literature and are interested in the writings of Orientalists and Western travelers who came to Yemen in different periods. The professor Had translated in advance a lot of their writings. So,this lecture is a research and a detailed project of several books of three Westerners from different nationalities submitted to Yemen in convergent functions in the period between 1930 1957.The lecture focused on telling people of the many writings of Western people about Yemen in general and Hadramout, in particular, given Yemen's deep historical and cultural openness and active presence and influence on the ideological reality of life in some of the most important countries in the world, particularly those with concentrated Hadhrami community which has led many governments of those countries to send and support researchers, travelers and others to go to Hadramout. The goal was to penetrate to the depths of this society which affected the lives of those people.At the mean time the role of women in creating this reality.So those people had to know a lot about these women and that could only be done through women to penetrate among them .
