WB allocates $ 100 mln for fisheries sector in Yemen

The World Bank (WB) expressed on Sunday its readiness to allocate an amount of USD 100 million for the implementation of fisheries projects in Yemen during the coming period.. This came during a meeting gathered Minister of Fisheries Wealth Mohamed Shamlan and the WB's mission to assess the level of implementation of WB-funded projects in Yemen within the Fifth Fisheries Project, headed by the rural development, water and environment official at the WB's office in Sana'a Naji Abu Hatem.According to the mission, the USD 100 million would be devoted for implementing a number of fisheries projects for which environmental and social studies have been prepared ,including the establishment of small fishing port in Luhya area and another one in Saleef area, in Hodeidah province, in addition to implementation of breakwaters in areas of Ras-Alarah, Qosaiar and Qashn in Mahrah province.In the meeting, the two sides discussed a report on the mission's filed visits to the coastal provinces.The report praised the level of implementation of the rehabilitation projects and other projects, which are funded by the Bank in the fisheries sector..
