The security operations against al-Qaeda have resulted in detaining more than 19 people in Marib province and 11 others in Hadramout province, Interior Minister Mutahar al-Masri has said.
The ministry has handed over Marib's sheikhs list of the names of al-Qaeda suspects, the minister said, adding in spite of the consequences of killing the province's local council head Jabir al-Shaboani, Marib's sheikhs were very supportive and had a very distinctive role in combating al-Qaeda affiliates, according to the independent website newsyemen.net.He said that Jihem tribe in Marib has handed over to the security apparatuses two of al-Qaeda affiliates.Al-Masri has revealed that the Interior Ministry, in cooperation with tribes of Bani Abidah, al-Juda'an and Jihem, has laid cordon around Marib and Jawf provinces.The cordon aims to prevent al-Qaeda assaults recently targeted power towers and oil pipes in addition to assassinating security and social leaders in Marib, the minister said.
