Muslims in Kenya have been strongly advised to focus on the priority issues like fighting poverty, hunger, disease and promoting national welfare.The call was made by Shariff Muhdhar Khitamy, the Coast Supkem Provincial Chairman, when addressing a party held at Memon Villa, Mombasa, to mark this year's Idd-Ul-Adha.
He also called for a Welfare State in Kenya to cater for those living below the poverty line.
He made the statement on Sunday, November 29, during a well-attended luncheon to celebrate Idd-Ul-Adha.Shariff Muhdhar Khitamy, the Coast Supkem Provincial Chairman was the main organiser of the luncheon for 210 orphans from various Muslim orphanages in MombasaOthers who funded the luncheon were Radio Rahma and the Memon Community.Shariff Muhdhar Khitamy noted with sadness that people were dying of cholera in Lamu due to lack of safe water, sanitation and good hospitals. He challenged Muslim tycoons to pool their resources and construct beneficial and tangible projects for their people, instead of dissipating their wealth on funding miniscule projects which have little impact on the Ummah.
