Abdulaziz was a nationally renowned and highly recognized agronomist of remarkable intellectual capacity. Drector to Mtwapa Research Center and a retired agricultural officer The late Abdulaziz passed away on the eve of Idd-ul-Fitri at Nairobi, on his return from a successful heart operation in India. His funeral was attended by several hundred mourners; including three cabinet Ministers - Hon. Charity Ngilu. Hon. P.Nyang' Onyong' and Hon. Najib Balala. An emotional Hon. Ngilu commented: Abdulaziz was our dear and good brother, throughout our ups and down. May Almighty God receive well in Heaven!" His colleagues regarded him as a solid 'think tank' to whom they would often seek his professional opinions.He was the director to Mtwapa Research Centre and later transferred to Kabete Research Centre and back to Mtwapa, from where he retired as an agricultural officer in the ministry of Agriculture.The late Abdulaziz was born at Kitui town where he attended his primary education and then moved to Nairobi to join Eastleigh primary and secondary schools. In 1963 he went to Jordan for further studies in Agronomy at King Hussein College of Africulture. In 1967 he went to Russia's Moscow University where he obtained his degree in Agronomy. His first cousin Omar Bassadiq noted: "Abdulaziz was a remarkable intellectual of high calibre with Islamic discipline and principles. "He was an epitome of Muslim scientist whose intellectual characteristics are well symbolized in the Qur'anic verse:' 'Who makes the seeds sprout forth from the earth? 'Who pushes the stem upwards, contrary to the earth's gravitational pull? 'Who makes the followers blossom and bear fruit? 'Who gives it colour, test and smell? 'Can there be any god besides Almighty Allah? 'It is Almighty Allah and Only He Who has performed those miracles' He possessed a sharp mind which was ever fascinated with Islamic principles and discipline pertaining to scientific discoveries. On his retirement he went back to his birth place - Kitui and practically involved himself into helping the youth in their pursuant of their education and building mosques and Muslim schools in which Muslim and non-Muslim children to attend.
