GCC Labour ministers study increase of Yemeni labour participation

Labour ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council states GCC have on Monday confirmed their support for the Yemeni unity and their countries on security and stability of Yemen and support of development projects.
The confirmation came in the closing statement of the meeting of the GCC foreign ministers and the republic of Yemen held in the Saudi Arabia capital Riyadh on Monday. The statement mentioned that the meeting of the GCC states and the republic of Yemen was held in Riyadh on Monday with the aim of coordination and consultation and revising the progress achieved in all areas of cooperation between the two sides.
The statement also clarified that the Yemeni foreign minister Dr Abu Bakr Abdullah al-Qirbi informed the GCC foreign ministers meeting on a number of suggestions related to enhancement of cooperation between the two sides at a time the meeting listened to a report by the GCC secretary general on the progress realized in the course of cooperation between the GCC states and the republic of Yemen especially in the development track , explaining that the volume of the GCC states present pledges and the regional funds amounted to around $3.5 billion for projects of the period 2007-2010 and that $2.2 billion of them have been allocated so far.
The meeting also directed to giving priority to their programmes of qualification of Yemeni labour through increasing the percentage of funding programmes of technical education and training. The GCC labour minister’s council should study mechanisms for increasing the participation of the Yemeni labour in the Gulf labour market. The directives also included drawing up a mechanism for encouraging the GCC private sector to investing in Yemen and urging tradesmen in Yemen and the GCC and the union of chambers of commerce in the GCC to work for enhancing partnership between businessmen on both sides.
