Yemen Women Union Participates in high-level Ministerial event on the humanitarian crisis in Yemen organized by UNGA OCHA.
The high-level event aims to demonstrate what can be achieved when Member States allocate unearmarked funding to highly
prioritized Humanitarian Response Plans against in an environment that is increasingly challenging to deliver humanitarian
assistance and services.
During the event, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator and the Head of the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, praised Yemen Women Union as the most powerful Organization run by Yemeni women.
The representative of the Yemeni Women's Union, Ms. Mai Abdul Malik, spoke about the humanitarian situation in Yemen and the suffering of women and girls as the most vulnerable groups. She pointed out the presence of the Union in all governorates and their district level. She also mentioned main achievements of the Yemeni Women's Union in humanitarian response in protection of women, food and WASH.
Finally, she commended the efforts of the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and its humanitarian response mechanisms to support projects that have a significant impact on alleviating humanitarian suffering in Yemen
