First Vice Chairman of the General People’s Congress GPC and Secretary General Abid Rabu Mansour Hadi has on Tuesday emphasized that the accord between the GPC and the Joint Meeting Parties JMP has been characterized by the national necessity. The recent positive political developments have placed the GPC and all partisan and civilian activities face to face with good national options prioritizing the higher interest of the homeland, Hadi added. In his address sent to meetings of the GPC’s local permanent committees and conferences of the constituencies and locals, the GPC Secretary General said the political accord has embodied the GPC keenness on “ steering Yemen ship towards the safe land” , along with all the live forces in the society and on providing the possible degree of political accord. It also embodies the GPC keenness on creation of convenient atmospheres bridging the gap among factions of political process and opening new horizons for life détente among the citizens, enabling to continue development construction and refreshing the national economy. Hadi made it clear that the agreement between the GPC and the JMP in February 2009 is meant for giving opportunity for political parties and organisations as well as civil society organisations to discuss constitutional amendments necessary for developing the political system and the electoral system including the proportionate list. It also aims to help completion of discussing the topics that were not agreed on while preparing amendments on the elections law and to include what would be agreed on in the body of the law in addition to re-setting the supreme commission for elections in accordance with stipulation of the law. He said all that is in embodiment of the call by President Ali Abdullah Saleh in which he called the GPC and the JMP to sit again to the dialogue table for the purpose of holding elections as more pluralist and safer in the manner that the democratic process would acquire the vitality of competition and participation by all parties
