The first and biggest ever cleaning campaign in Yemen is to be launched
in the capital Sana'a on Wednesday. The campaign may allow Yemen to
enter the race to break a Guinness World Record with over 200,000
volunteers, cleaning a designated amount of space in a short amount of
time.
The campaign is organized by the capital secretariat in cooperation with
"Yemen starts from here" a capital-based youth-driven initiative. It is
called "Sharik" and scheduled for December 12. Under the slogan, "My
contribution builds Yemen", the campaign aims to enhance the social
contribution to the government's efforts to show the civilized
appearance of Sana'a befitting its historical, political and social
status as the capital of the unified Yemen.
Over 200,000 of
Sana'a's inhabitants, students, military men, partisan leaders, members
of parliament, the Shura Council and public and private sector workers
will take part in the event.

Helal said that all the equipments and technical arrangements have been
tied up to carry out the campaign, which will serve as an annual
tradition that the local authority will be bound to carry out annually
as a Popular Cleanliness Day at the capital Sana'a.
The
campaign's program will accommodate more than 200,000 male and female
volunteers in Sana'a provided with 200,000 caps, flannels and gloves
decorated with the slogan of the campaign as well as 300,000 brooms and
spades to collect waste across Sana'a and its ten districts, Helal said.
According
to the "Yemen starts from here" a capital-based youth-driven
initiative, which will carry out the campaign with entire sponsorship of
the capital secretariat, Yemen will be allow - by campaign - to enter
the race to break a Guinness World Record with over 200,000 volunteers,
cleaning around 22 square km area, including streets, facilities and
administrative departments across Sana'a in four hours.

urged all citizens in the capital to effectively take part in cleaning
their neighborhoods, valuing highly the President Abdo Rabbo Mansour
Hadi and government's full support as well as the private sector's
positive reaction to succeed the campaign.
