Vice President meets foreign diplomats

Vice President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi met on Sunday a number of the European ambassadors to Yemen to brief them on the latest developments in Yemen.
The Vice President met, head of the Delegation of the European Union Michele Cervone d’Urso and the ambassadors of the United Kingdom Jonathan Wilks, France Joseph Silva, Germany Holger Green and Spain Francisco Javier Hergueta. During the meeting, Hadi reviewed the political and military developments in the country, particularly the decisive victory achieved by the armed forces against al-Qaeda militants in Abyan province and clashes with them to break the three-month siege on the 25th brigade. Hadi said that the al-Qaeda had brought its elements from different provinces of Yemen as well as from some Arab and Islamic states, aiming to establish an Islamic emirate in Abyan. He added that the al-Qaeda militants had taken advantage of the seven-month political crisis in Yemen. "More than 30 leaders of the al-Qaeda were killed. Abyan became a graveyard for the al-Qaeda terrorists", he said to the diplomats. Hadi also made it clear that 90 Yemeni soldiers were killed and more than 600 others were wounded in clashes with the al-Qaeda militants in Abyan. In addition, the Vice President briefed the European diplomats on the latest political developments in the country and the outcomes of the extraordinary meetings of the General Committee of the General People's Congress, including the ruling party’s effective policy to resolve the current crisis through holding dialogue with the opposition parties on an mechanism to apply the Gulf initiative understandably and logically.
