FANA 36th conference concluded in Beirut

The 36th conference of the General Assembly of the Federation of Arab
News Agencies (FANA) was concluded on Friday in the Lebanese capital
Beirut. With the participation of Yemen News Agency Board
Chairman and Editor in Chief Nasr Taha Mustafa and officials of 17 Arab
news agencies, the two-day conference approved a number of the
decisions and recommendations that will activate the mechanisms of
cooperation between the Arab news agencies in the field of promoting
news exchange and activating cooperation in technical areas. The
delegates also approved the holding of the 37th conference next year in
the Egyptian capital Cairo in addition to increasing the FANA budget. They
stressed the importance of continuing the federation's efforts to set
up a media center for training of the Arab news agencies journalists. The
FANA conference discussed cooperation relations with international news
agencies, including the European Alliance of News Agencies, the
Alliance of Mediterranean News Agencies and the New China News Agency
(Xinhua) beside other administrative and financial issues.
