The Caretaker Government has reiterated Yemen's commitment to international conventions on non-involvement of children in armed conflicts.
In Tuesday meeting chaired by Caretaker Prime Minister Ali Mujawar, the government pointed out that the Republic of Yemen will work to enact legislations in this aspect. In the meeting, the government got acquainted with a report submitted by Ministry of Legal Affairs on prevention of involving children in armed conflict in Yemen. On another hand, the government reviewed the weekly report of Interior Ministry on the security situation in light of the current crisis and the efforts made by the security services to enhance stability and maintain the general security. The report pointed to the last Wednesday incident committed by some elements of the opposition joint meeting parties (JMP) against supporters of the constitutional legitimacy in Al-Thawarh Sports City, which led to wounding of more than 700 people. The government strongly condemned this incident and undemocratic methods adopted by some elements of the JMPs in such marches that are inconsistent with the right of peaceful demonstration guaranteed by the Constitution and laws. In this regard, the government stressed the need to pursuit and arrest the accused in such incidents and bring them to justice.
