The ministerial committee continues its dialogue with the youth

The ministerial committee entrusted by the President of the republic with dialogue with the youth, chaired by the Prime Minister Dr Ali Mohammed Mujawar continued on Monday its dialogues with representatives of the youth, including those staging the sit-in in front of the gate of Sana’a University.
The today’s meeting was devoted to discussing the political dialogue and demands, aspirations and expectations of the youth in the political reform in addition to their assessment of what has been so far accomplished in this regard, the form of the legislative and electoral system they look forward to and the constitutional amendments that must be included for development and enhancement of the political and democratic work in Yemen. The committee listened to number of proposals and interruptions by some of the youth, and which in general affirmed the necessity of upgrading the political performance, speeding up the process of reforms, giving the interest of Yemen precedence to others of calculations and interest. they confirmed the significance of raising high the values of justice , equality, sovereignty of the law, transparency, the right to accountability , respect of the law, safeguarding the constants, the protection of stability, security and unity of the homeland and defending its interests sincerely. The representatives of the youth have stressed the necessity of eliminating the culture of mediation and nepotism and the policies of appeasement in addition to the practical application of the law of rotation in the leading posts and providing the factors guaranteeing the peaceful and easy transfer of power. They expressed their rejection of exploitation of their legitimate and constitutional demands for outbidding on the homeland and giving priority to their own and narrow interests, calling the attention to the significance of dialogue The youth representatives have also reiterated the emphasis on providing the opportunity for the youth for the effective participation in the political life and some of them criticized reality of the political parties and their historical leaderships that do not allow a chance for the youth participation, pointing out the importance that all the parties should abandon the inciting and tense address which consolidates the culture of division and hatred among the sons of the one Yemeni homeland. The youth have also drawn the attention to the importance of setting up conditions and criteria for those intending to nominate for membership of the parliament compatible with the nature of the monitoring and legislative works undertaken by members of parliament in order that to be genuine representatives of the people and express their aspirations. They also denounced exaggeration by some media outlets of what is happening in Yemen, which indicate the existence of an intention of harming the homeland’s gains and its security and stability. The Prime Minister gave an address to the meeting at the beginning of which he expressed his looking forward for the dialogue to be more programmed and the keenness on dividing it into political, economic and social axe sand according to what was defined in the previous dialogue meeting the day before yesterday and in the manner leading to reach at practical solutions able to be implemented. He reminded the issues and demands of right that were discussed in the previous meeting with the youth , mainly the unemployment, solving the problem of the handicapped and combating corruption in all of the state institutions. The Prime Minister confirmed that all that was reached at that meeting would be translated on the ground with decisions to be taken by the cabinet in its next meeting , including the instating the employees on contracts and engagement of the youth in different committees pertaining employment even at he level of ministries and provinces. The Prime Minister confirmed the keenness on participation of the youth in monitoring tenders and biddings and giving them the chance to get acquainted with the reports presented by the higher committee for monitoring tenders and biddings in the way serving transparency and enhancing credibility. The Prime Minister also touched on the efforts being exerted by the government for fighting corruption through the reforms that have been done and the laws issued, such as the law on fighting corruption, formation of the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Commission, the law of tenders and biddings and the higher committee for tenders. Concerning the political axis, the Prime Minister confirmed that the axis of the political reform is very important and it is dealt with by great responsibility, considering the reunification of Yemen on 22 May 1990 as the biggest process of political reform in the history of Yemen. He said the achievement of the unity of Yemen was connected with the political pluralism and the political parties and organisations were established to practice their work in freedom. He said among the prominent democratic successes achieved are represented by the experience of electoral accumulation in the parliamentary, the local and the presidential area and consolidation of the awareness regarding competition. Dr Mujawar also talked about mechanism of the electoral process in Yemen and the presence of large local and international observation. He has also indicated to the big experiment of the local councils and keenness of the state on enhancing the local rule with spacious powers, explaining that the government is working for developing the political and electoral system and to benefit from such dialogues in this respect. The Prime Minister praised the noticeable development at the level of discussion with the youth, indicating that the clearer and definite the questions were there would be big interaction with them.
