APU supports Yemen unity

The Arab Inter-parliamentary Union (AIPU) has affirmed support for the unity, security and stability of Yemen.
At the end of its 17th meeting in the Qatari capital Doha with an active participation of a Yemeni delegation headed by Parliament Speaker Yahya al-Ra'e, the AIPU expressed its categorical rejection of any foreign interference in Yemen's internal affairs, hoping that the latest cease-fire agreement will secure peace in Saada province. In addition, the Arab Union called on Arab countries to provide economic development assistance to Yemen to enable it to rebuild the war-ravaged areas and recovery economically the country.The meeting also called on Arab countries to receive Yemeni workers in the their projects.Under the patronage of Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, the 17th AIPU meeting opened in Doha with the participation of Arab parliaments' speakers and a number of their excellences Qatari ministers and representatives of international and regional organizations.The AIPU is an Arab parliamentary organization composed of parliamentary groups representing Arab Parliaments. It was born in the wake of the October war of 1974, as a result of the atmosphere of Arab solidarity and Arab joint action, which encouraged Arab cooperation through political, professional and other institutions. The Constituent Conference of the Arab IPU was held in Damascus from 19 to 21 June 1974.Representatives of the parliaments in the following Arab countries took part in this Conference: Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritania, Palestine, Sudan, Syria and Tunisia.
