The Transport Ministry plans to build an airport
in Jawf province that it says will help streamline the movement of travelers
into and out of the city rich in historic monuments and tourist attractions
The
announcement was made when Transport minister Khalid al Wazeer met with Jawf
governor Hussien Hazib, deputy minister for Public Works and Roads Abdul Wahab
al Hakim and head of the Civil Aviation and Meteorological Authority Hamid
Farag. The meeting discussed how to determine the space required for the airport
according to international standards and how to review the general design of
Jawf to avoid mistakes that can lead to confusion when building the project, al
Wazeer said. The plan also comes under President Saleh's orders calling for expanding
airport construction with the aim of developing air transport within the fourth
five-year development plan 2011-2015, added the minister.
