Meeting in Mukalla discusses issues of fishermen

Hadhramout Governor Salem Ahmed Khanbashi today in Mukalla city chaired, a meeting of leaders from the security agencies, judicial and government officials -Office of the Ministry of Fisheries, Cooperative Union branch and a number of fish and fishery associations within Mukalla districts The meeting was attended by Khalid Said Al-deini Secretary-General of the Council and provincial Undersecretaries.The meeting was dedicated to discuss number of issues related to the activity of fish and the suffering of fishermen from acts of piracy that continues in our territorial waters by Somali pirates and some foreign ships. They are also exposed to attacks and heavy damages to due to looting and seizure of their belongings., It also discussed the phenomenon of the spread of drug abuse , trafficking, smuggling of diesel across the sea and the increasing aggravation of the problem of influx of displaced people from the Horn of Africa to our shores. This influx of these people pose a serious human tragedy. Leaders and heads of associations of fisheries also spoke during the meeting. They pointed out to the need of finding g a practical way out to cope with the phenomenon of piracy in the territorial waters and the cooperation of all the competent authorities in the elimination of its negative risk an repercussions on the livelihoods of fishermen and damages done to them and drop their fish production. .They called for the speedy disposition of cash compensations to the fishermen who have been subjected to these acts of piracy and especially committed by the international forces.
