Specialized preliminary Criminal Court in Hadhramaut province sentenced 13 Somalis to 12 years on charges of piracy of foreign ships in Yemeni territorial and international waters The court in its meeting today, chaired by Judge Ali Abdu Al Awadi Chairman of the Specialized Criminal Court of First Instance .. found the accused (Abdul Rahman Mohammed Hussein Jaame, Ahmed Ali Mahmoud Aenb, Abdulkadir Farah Samantar Adam, Ahmed Adam Ali Nur, Abdi Mohamed Said Saleh Farah, Shafei Mahmoud Ismail Hirsi Ali, Hosni Said Ismail Issa, Musa Abdella Adam Gori, Abdul Qader Mohammed Said Musa, Ahmed Mohammed Said Othman, Mohammed Abdella Mohammed Osman, Mohammed Osman Abdella Jaame, Mohamed Osman Abdi) charged them in accordance with the provisions of Articles (4.9) of the Anti-kidnapping and carjacking of foreign ships in Yemeni territorial waters and international waters, abduction of the two boats Yemenis (Al-dhafe rand Al-Jawad) for the purpose of using them in the process of piracy. They were prepared for the necessary means to carry out their crimes with weapons and explosives, ladders and aimed at harming the status of the Republic Economy, endangering the safety of maritime navigation, passage of ships in our territorial waters at risk and the crimes where were carried on 28/5//2010. The court punished the convicted to imprisonment for 12 years starting from the date of arrest, confiscation of firearms seized and to handed over to the public treasury. The convicts were given the right to appeal within the statutory period.
