Ali Awadh was ambushed while on his way back from a visit to the scene where
suspected al Qaeda fighters killed 10 soldiers and injured several others in
the Lowder district early on Friday. A massive hunt was launched for those responsible for the two ambushes as Yemen is
exerting major efforts to root out terrorists wherever they exist on its soil.
On Friday morning, armed people attacked military water tankers and patrols
escorting them while on their way to bring supplies in Lowder killing 12
soldiers.
Eyewitnesses were quoted by media outlets as saying that about 15 gunmen,
believed to al Qaeda militants, were seeing running away after the ambush.
