Yemeni official hails Kuwaiti support

A senior Yemeni official has praised the level of Kuwaiti support for Yemen in fields like education, public health and road construction since 1963.
"This support has left evident and direct traces in the hearts of the Yemeni people," deputy Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Hisham Sharaf said to reporters.
Sharaf said that Kuwait has long supported development and infrastructure projects till this day, and that it was one of the first countries to have pledged donations to Yemen in the donors conference of London in 2006, of around USD 90 million; representing about 40 percent of the conference's total financial pledge."Thanks to Kuwait's support of the development of Yemen's Socotra Island, this project will transform the island into an important tourist location, resulting in bettering the country's economy", Sharaf added.
