Turkey finances restoration of Bokiriah Mosque in Sana'a

Yemen and Turkey have signed an agreement for restoration of the Bokiriah Mosque, which is one of the oldest historical mosques in Sana'a, the 26 September Newspaper reported on Thursday. The work in the restoration of the Bokiriah Mosque is an exceptional event within the interest in Islamic monuments, Director of Antiquities in Culture Ministry Ahmed al-Rodi told the 26 September Newspaper.The Turkish side would take over the restoration work jointly with counterparts from Yemeni specialized cadres, he added.AL-Rodi said that the restoration work to be financed by the Turkish government would include decorative elements, colors, and shrines around the mosque.The restoration of the mosque, located east of Sana'a city, is expected to begin in coinciding with the upcoming visit of Turkish President Abdullah Gul to Yemen.
