YJS launches training course on journalism quality standards

Yemeni Journalists Syndicate (YJS) organizes in Sana'a a training course in international quality standards of journalism on January 6-8.
In three days, about 20 journalists from various media outlets will gain the principles of journalism ethics, media code of ethics, code of conduct and concept of ethical journalism. The participants will also got acquainted with issues of news manipulation, types of neutrality, serving the public interest, the professional balance means and credibility as well as news contents evaluation.The course is organized in collaboration with future investment program that will last for five years to raise the Yemeni journalists' capacities in various press areas, YJS Training Committee Head Nabil al-Usaidi said.He said the trainers Walid Batrawi and Ehab Salam will lecture the participants on topics of privacy, responsibility, parasitism on others' grief, and ethics of photography and secret recordation, anonymity and the right of rejection and response.The course will focus also on way to cover elections, particularly the polling day, al-Usaidi said.
