Court sentences Somali national to death, three Yemenis to jail

The Specialized Penal court in Hadramout sentenced on Sunday a Somali national to death and three other Yemenis to 25 yeas in jail in two separate cases.
The verdict in the first case was delivered, during the hearing presided by Judge Abdu al-Awadhi, convicting Ali Said Ibrahim, a Somali national, of bringing narcotic injections to the territory of Yemen with a view to trafficking. In addition, the verdict stipulated the destruction of the seized narcotic materials in the case.The security services seized the convicted in the very act in June 2009 with 180 narcotic injections in his possession after he had illegally entered Yemeni lands by sea through smuggling.In the second case, the court convicted three Yemenis, who are Hamad Salem Hanish, Ahmed Saleh Ahmed Jaradan and Naif Salem Hanish, of possessing about 15 kg of drugs (Hashish) and resisting policemen with arms.The three convicted were captured at a checkpoint on the road to Hadramout Valley in December 2009, while they were riding in a pick-up car with the narcotic substances
