Strategy to realize food security in Yemen by 2020

Yemeni government has prepared a national strategy for food security in cooperation with the International Food Policy Researches Institute (IFPRI) in Washington, the U.S..
The strategy aims to reduce the food security problem by a third by the year of 2015, achieve good security for 90 percent of the population by 2020, and decrease malnutrition of children by at least one percent each year.The draft strategy, which is currently before the Cabinet, considered Yemen one of the countries that suffer from the food security problem in the Arab World and among the ten countries suffering the same problem at the world level.
As a result of this situation, the government represented by Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation, has developed a common vision of the food security. The vision stipulated that all Yemeni people should get adequate food at all times and live a healthy, productive and vital life.
