Minister of Transport Khalid al-Wazir called on Wednesday, during his meeting with European Union ambassadors to Yemen, to lift their own procedures to ban air cargo from and to Yemen because this does not serve the international partnership with Yemen in the fight against terrorism. During the meeting, Transport Minister briefed the EU ambassadors onsecurity measures taken by Yemen to develop security of airports and air cargo, pointing out to a number of European and American teams concerned with the security of airports who praised actions taken at the airports of Yemen. He said the government took over the training of all employees at the Sana'a Airport and introduced new security systems to enhance security measures at the Yemeni airports. For his part, Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Monthna pointed out to the negative effects of those actions on the economic situation of Yemen, particularly the European companies which have business in the activities of importing and exporting. He expressed readiness of the concerned authorities in Yemen to receive any special airport security teams to assess the situation and take any additional actions required to lift this ban for strengthening the existing partnership between Yemen and these countries in the fight against terrorism
