Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al Qirbi met on Saturday with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.
At the meeting held on the margins of the Seventh IISS Regional Security Summit, the Manama Dialog, the two discussed the bilateral relationship and ways to strengthen cooperation in all areas.
Clinton said the U.S. administration gives more attention to the coordination with Yemen towards the upcoming meeting of Friends of Yemen Group in Riyadh early next year.
The U.S. will send a delegate in the near future to discuss with Yemen ways of coordination to ensure the meeting will be a success, said Clinton, as she reiterated full support for comprehensive reforms in the country.
Apart from the meeting, Clinton praised at a banquet held on the sidelines of the three-day conference Yemen's efforts in fighting and trying pirates who are threatening international maritime navigation in the Gulf of Aden and off Somalia.
Yemen is one of the first countries to face piracy, she said, adding that Washington is committed to help the country face human security challenges.
Furthermore, she urged the GCC member states to bless and support strides Yemen has made in the security and development sectors
