Mujawar: Yemen aims for competence of workforce as it eyes Gulf markets

Prime Minister Ali Mujawar said Yemen is interested in securing all possibilities to boost the competence of Yemeni workforce through good training and qualification programmes or through improving the output of technical education and vocational training. Opening a regional workshop on the mobility of Yemeni workforce to the GCC countries in Sana'a on Saturday, he said the government in cooperation with McKenzie Consulting has recently prepared a vision to improve the outputs of technical education and vocational training institutions in line with needs of Gulf labor markets.
The vision identified steps for programmatic and increasing presence of Yemeni labourers in the Arabian Gulf in the next ten years taking into consideration the vital role the private sector plays in this regard.Yemen highly appreciates the commitment of the GCC towards the issue of its workforce to be available in Gulf markets, he said at the workshop being organized by the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs in cooperation with the Arab Labour Organization and the International Organization for Migration.We are today very keen to serve Yemeni-Gulf interests with the issue of Yemeni workforce in the Gulf markets one of these interests at a time when Yemen has a good workforce and GCC members have markets that need Yemenis, he said.Furthermore, he stressed the importance of exchanging information, programmes and training and educational curricula between Yemen and the Gulf countries as well as identifying standards and professional skills for working in the Gulf markets and having united standards and programmes.
