Russian archaeological Mission on Sunday resumed survey of archaeological and ethnographic in the archipelago of Socotra, and also started working on exploration in the settlement of (Hajarah ) west of Hadibo city. The work will continue until the 26 of November2010..
Dr. Abdullah Bawazir, President of the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums, clarified to the Yemen News Agency (SABA) that the Russia Archaeological Mission, headed by Dr. Vitaly Naumken, will begin their work of archaeological survey in the archipelago of Socotra, and further excavations in the settlement of (stone) west of the city of Hadibo on Sunday . Bawazir indicated that that the program of the mission is focused on continuing with the survey of archaeological, linguistic studies, ethnographic of the (dialects, customs and traditions) in the archipelago of Socotra and the areas surrounding the Hadibo, as well as to continue the archaeological work in the settlement of (Hajarah) a settlement 5 kilometers west of Hadibo. .The resumption of archaeological work of the Russian Mission that consist of 12 researchers in the areas of the Socotrian language and archaeological excavations, comes in continuation of several past research Seasons that was done in collaboration with the General Authority for Antiquities and Museums. , The mission during last year when it working on the surveys and archaeological digging in Socotra and the settlement of (Hajara) near Hudaibo and resulted in the disclosure of historical era rooted in the past through digging and found artifacts, utensils, pots, pottery, ceramics also remains of animal bones, shells, husks and freely that returns to a period from the (14 and 15) centuries after birth, and another return to the previous periods.
