About 265 Africans arrived in Yemen's provinces of Hadramout, Shabwa and Abyan, the Interior Ministry said on Friday. They included 23 children and 23 women, it said, making clear that 110 infiltrated into Boroum coast, Hadramout, 105 into Abyan and 50 others into Shabwa. Those who arrived in Abyan included 26 Ethiopians and all others were Somalis, it said, as it voiced concern about the arrival of this number to Yemen in one day. Yemen receives refugees fleeing deteriorating situations and conflicts in horn of Africa countries in almost semi-daily numbers.Yemen has recently urged the international community to provide more support to cope with the persistent influx of Africans into it, who it says lay more burdens on its fragile economy and pose threats to its national security and social structure.Last year reports surfaced that Africans also help spread of some diseases at a time when the authorities are doing major efforts to improve basic services. Official statistics estimated the number of the Africans who have already landed in Yemen at hundreds of thousands, who mainly came on smuggling boats from Somalia and Ethiopia.
