Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi has affirmed that the current preparations to host 20th Gulf Cup are moving ahead as planned, making clear that sports and housing facilities are ready at 100%.
During his meeting with a number of Arab journalists who took part Tourism Investment Forum on Sunday, he said that the final touches will be over by mid November, at the latest, to host the championship.As for the concerns regarding security, the minister affirmed that security apparatuses have prepared a complete plan ensuring security of the sports event to be held in secured and stable situations.He pointed out to the Gulf tour of Sports and Youth Minister to assure the Gulf football unions of the stable situations to host this sportive event in Yemen. The minister dealt with efforts of Yemen to overcome the economic and security challenges and to get support from friend and sister countries in order to face these challenges. Al-Qirbi also made clear efforts of security apparatuses to confront the security challenges, specially counterterrorism and sea piracy, indicating the success of military counteraction to such threats.He emphasized that counterterrorism efforts will continue till terrorists are washed away, pointing out to the ongoing cooperation between Yemen and friend and sister countries within the international framework to combat terrorism with respect to logistic support and information exchange.As far as peace settlement in Saada is concerned, al-Qirbi asserted that there are unwavering efforts ongoing and that the presence of the Qatari committee in Yemen comes within the follow-up of the implementation process of the agreed upon conditions with Houthis.He highly valued the ever growing relations between Yemen and the Gulf States in the various aspects of life to further strengthen and deepen the common interests and bonds.Foreign Minister also mentioned keenness of President Ali Abdullah Saleh to reform the League of Arab States through upgrading its various systems and updating its work mechanism to reach a common Arab action, indicating his concern not cause a split in the Arab stance in case of disagreement over what the suitable reforms are.
