FM receives credentials of UK envoy to Yemen

Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi received on Saturday a copy of credentials of the newly-appointed British ambassador to Yemen John Wilkes. At the meeting, the two sides discussed areas of cooperation between the two friendly countries, especially with regard to the role of the United Kingdom in supporting the Group of Friends of Yemen to come up with tangible results during the next period. Al- Qirbi confirmed the keenness of the Yemen government to develop relations with the UK government, especially in the area of joint coordination to follow up decisions of the New York meeting and to prepare for the second ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of Yemen to be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.He also expressed the government's willingness to facilitate the ambassador's duties in Ye. For his part, the UK ambassador voiced the British government's adherence to support and activate the Group of Friends of Yemen to reach tangible results during the next period, and to help Yemen to face the security challenges representing in threats of al Qaeda.
