Chairman of the Arab Tourism Organization (ATO) Bandar al-Fuhaid arrived on Friday in Sana'a to partake in the 2nd Arab Tourism Investment Meeting . Al-Fuhaid said that holding Arab tourism meetings and conferences is very important for activating the inter-Arab tourism. He told Saba that what distinguishes the 2nd Arab Tourism Investment Meeting, to start Saturday and last three days, is the early and distinct preparation which reflects the government's interest in the tourism sector in Yemen. The meeting would discuss a number of important Arab tourism programs in order to raise the proportion of the growth of tourism, especially inter-Arab ones, which amounted to 45 percent, al-Fuhaid pointed out. He added that the meeting would also deal with setting a plan and a media strategy to highlight the Palestinian historical and archaeological monuments to face the Israeli violations and attempts to obliterate their Arab identity. Al-Fuhaid criticized some Arab media that works to amplify the events that occur here and there in various Arab countries, including Yemen, especially on security issues and the fight against terrorism, without accuracy in the transfer of events, which cause a negative impact on tourism in the Arab region as a whole. "The Arab media did not serve the tourism sector at all. In time, in which the media and tourism are partners and two faces of the same coin", he said.He hoped that the media play their role in shedding light on tourism and promote it and highlightthe accuracy of any event, as ambassadors of the tourism sector. Moreover, He pointed that the ATO is studying the idea of creating a specialized tourism channel dealing with historical monuments and archaeological sites in Arab countries. Also, Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Sudan Ahmed Nahar, and Director of Development and Tourism Preparation at the Algerian Ministry of Tourism and Industry arrived in Sana'a for participating in the meeting.
