Yemen, WTO review remaining steps for Yemen's accession

Yemen and the World Trade Organization (WTO) reviewed here on Sunday remaining steps to complete the requirements of Yemen accession to WTO.
Minister of Industry and Trade Yahya al-Mutawakil and the WTO delegation headed by Director of the Accessions Division of the WTO Chiedu Osakwe talked about some issues pertaining to Yemen's joining to the WTO and the results of holding the Working Group 8th meeting on Yemen's accession to WTO. The WTO delegation's head hailed the progress Yemen achieved in its bilateral and multilateral negotiations for finalizing the accession requirements, expressing his satisfaction on the efforts exerted by the Yemeni government with the private sector's support to speed up the accession according to a timeframe. For his part, al-Mutawakil praised the WTO supportive role for Yemen, noting Yemen has fulfilled its obligations with respect to legislations and their harmonization with the accession requirements. The government has approved a package of legislations and they are now on the parliament's table. The Minister also emphasized the importance of taking into account the Yemen's economic and social situations during the negotiations and enable it to avail form the advantages granted for the least-developed countries (LDCs)
