Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi has denied that corruption impedes getting the donors' financial pledges to Yemen.
In an interview with Middle East paper, al-Qirbi said there is no corruption in the government impedes getting the funds Yemen friends have pledged in the London meeting held early in 2010.In a ministerial meeting of Yemen's friends held in New York, al-Qirbi said corruption was a problem 5 or 6 years ago, but today there is an authority for combating corruption, accentuating that "Corruption is no an issue nowadays."The Yemeni government will present its five-year development plan to fight against unemployment, poverty and economic challenges for a meeting of senior officials firstly, and then for a meeting of foreign ministers in Riyadh, which will specify the development needs of Yemen", al-Qirbi said.Al-Qirbi said that the Yemen's Friends Group has affirmed that it will not interfere in the internal affairs of Yemen, adding that the national dialog is a Yemeni issue and Yemen's friends' role is just to encourage and support the dialog."
