A Yemeni official met here on Wednesday with diplomats of Yemen Friends states members to discuss the means of succeeding the coming meeting of Yemen Friends Group to be held in New York on September 24 The New York meeting of Yemen Friends Group is to mobilize international support for Yemen's development process.The Sana’a meeting, chaired by Foreign Minister Abu Bakr al-Qirbi, included the ambassadors of Yemen Friends' Group states member and a delegation from the U.S. Department of Treasury.During the meeting, al-Qirbi affirmed the significance of coordinating the efforts of brotherly and friendly countries as well as the donors' organizations to support Yemen and its development.He also highlighted to the importance of promoting Yemen's capability to overcome its challenges topped by the economy in addition to assist Yemen's efforts to reduce poverty and unemployment.For his part, the U.S delegation’s head, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Treasury for Africa and the Middle East Andrew Baukol, made clear that Yemen's Friends Group is discussing a proposal of establishing a fiduciary fund focusing on the fourth developmental plan priorities to alleviate poverty.‘’This proposal is going to be discussed during the upcoming meeting of the group in New York’’, he said, accenting his country’s support for setting up this fund.
The US official hoped all countries and donors' organizations, particularly the Gulf states, cooperate in establishing this fund in order to enable Yemen to carry out its development plans and programs.
