Oman has full confidence in Yemen hosting the 20th edition of Gulf Cup to be held next November, an Omani official has said.
"We are very much assured that Yemen can host a spectacular tournament this year", Sayyid Khaled, Oman Football Association chairman, said.
Khaled also offered to help the Yemeni authorities with assistance, "I am told that they are organising the tournament of highest standards but if at all they require any sort of assistance we are ready to help".
The official draw for the elusive tournament was held on Sunday evening in the City of Aden.
During the ceremony, the Gulf Cup trophy that Oman won last year was officially handed over to the host.
"We also hope that our champions retain the cup once again," Khaled added.
Aden city hosted a celebration to conduct the 20th Gulf draw with the presence of the eight participating countries, including Yemen, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Iraq, the UAE and Bahrain.
The draw resulted in the selection of two groups as follows:
Group1: Yemen, Kuwait, Qatar and Saudi Arabia,
Group2: Oman, Iraq, the UAE and Bahrain.In the draw ceremony, Minister of Youth and Sports Hamoud Ubad affirmed that Yemen has achieved all requirements of this important football event with regard to sport venues, housing and organizational plans.President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Mohammed bin Hamam, in his turn, expressed satisfaction and pleasure with Yemen hosting this sports event, urging for more such sport activities.
