1st half of August registers 550 traffic accidents

Nearly 109 people, including 17 children and 6 women, were killed and 808 others severely injured, 147 of them children and 54 women, due to traffic accidents took place in the first half of August, Interior Ministry reported on Tuesday.
A statistical report issued by the Ministry showed that the period from the first day of August till the mid of the month, traffic accidents reached 550 accidents throughout Yemen's governorates.The accidents range between 265 crash accidents resulting in the death of 40 people and 387 casualties, and 129 running over killing 37 people and injuring 170 others.
While 76 vehicles' overturning have claimed the lives of 31 people and injured 235 others as well as the falling accidents recorded 17 ones causing the death of one people and injuring 16.
The statistics referred that the main the reasons behind these accidents were the excessive speed, drivers' carelessness, wrong overtaking and heavy rainfall on the roads beside others.
