Speaker of the Parliament Yahya al-Rae'i met here on Tuesday with the National Democratic Institute (NDI)'s Resident Director Heather Therrien.
The two sides reviewed a number of topics relating to strengthening aspects of bilateral cooperation between the parliament and the institute.Al-Rae'i praised the level of the growing relations between the two sides, which include the partnership in the development of democracy including the parliamentary process.He called for promoting this partnership to the level of sought ambition, noting the importance of programs relating to developing capabilities of the parliament cadres.For her part, the NDI's director expressed her appreciation for the successes achieved by the parliament in areas of legislation and parliamentary oversight and updating of this process to keep pace with the underway changes at different levels.
