A gunman has opened fire on three Houthis in Harf-Sofyan district of Amran province, north Yemen, killing the Houthis.
Security sources told the information center of the Interior Ministry that the three Houthis were blocking a road as they were killed by the gunman."The killed Houthis were wanted by the security authorities on criminal acts in Amran", the sources added.Investigations are ongoing to disclose the reasons the reasons behind the killing.The Houthis in the district have killed a military commander and two of his escorts and 8 pro-government citizens.Later, they have attacked a military vehicle, wounding three soldiers.The Houthis have committed about 635 violations since a ceasefire force in on November 11, 2009, including the killings of security and military forces and citizens and the establishment of checkpoints, according to reports of Interior Ministry.Saada governorate has suffered from a sporadic six-year war between the government troops and the Houthi group since 2004. The last round of the war was erupted in August 2009. On February 11, a ceasefire deal was announced by President Ali Abdullah Saleh following the Houthi group leader's acceptance of the government's six terms. In spite some breaches committed by the Houthi group, the deal's implementation is going well but slowly.The war has claimed thousands of lives of innocent citizens, soldiers and insurgents in Saada, which is located close to the border with Saudi Arabia. The group was founded by rebel leader Hussein Houthi, the eldest brother of the current group leader Abdul-Malik. Hussein was killed by the army in September 2004.
