Govt approves draft regulations of electricity law

The Cabinet approved on Tuesday a draft regulations of the electricity law and instructed to complete the necessary legal procedures for issuing the regulations The regulations falls in 75 articles distributed to ten chapters including naming and definitions, the regulative council of electricity activities and its membership conditions, transportation system ,licensing system to practice any of electricity activities , and procedures for setting tariffs.It also includes provisions on using public lands, rights and obligations of consumer, the General Authority for Rural Electricity, associations to provide electric energy services in rural areas, and finally the transitional and concluding provisions.
The regulations comes to enhance the legal regulatory status of the electricity sector activities council under the electricity law No. 1 for 2009 and keep up with changes in this sector in the institutional ,technical and organizational aspects.
