UK: Yemen's security and political problems due to economic conditions

British Minister of State for Middle East and South Africa Affairs Alistair Burt said on Wednesday that the security and political problems faced by Yemen are due to economic conditions.
The British minister pointed out Britain and its friends will work to help Yemen to address the challenges, which would be reflected positively on the stability in Yemen and the region.
This came during Yemeni-British talks held here and chaired by Foreign Minster Abu Bakr al-Qribi and the British Minister.The talks dealt with areas of bilateral cooperation between Yemen and the UK in the field of development support and the security cooperation as well as the progress in the process of Yemen's Friends since its launch in London on January 27, 2010.The British minister affirmed his government's keenness to push forward the bilateral relations between the two countries and to continue its support to Yemen through Yemen's Friends Group.For his part, al-Qirbi voiced Yemen's appreciation for the UK's supportive positions to Yemen."The visit of the British Minister of State to Yemen is an evidence for a real move to support Yemen to face the development challenges and extremism and to implement the national agenda for reforms ", al-Qirbi said, adding that the visit reflects the strength of relations between the two friendly countries.
