Mujawar launches regional conference for Youth Empowerment

Prime Minister Ali Mujawar launched here on Monday a Regional Conference for Youth Empowerment Organized by Sport and Youth Ministry and Save the Children and USAID, the event was attended by a number of concerned government agencies, private sector, civil society organizations, and Arab and international organizations.In the opening of the conference, Mujawar delivered a speech in which he conveyed greetings of President Ali Abdullah Saleh to the participants in the conference.Mujawar praised the efforts exerted by the organizers, the participants and the supporters, adding that the government will provide all possibilities required to support youth participation and activate their role in the community.He also pointed out that youth issues is one of the most important issues in the government's agenda.The Prime Minister explained the important this event to define youth empowerment to build their capacities and promote youth people and their opportunities for participation in decision-making.Representatives from the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Yemen, non-government agencies and international organizations are attending the three-day conference.In a press release, Save the Children said that the conference includes four main sessions to discuss some youth issues relating to youth positive participation in their communities economically, socially and culturally.The Country Director of Save the Children in Yemen, Andrew Moore said that Save the Children works in partnership with Ministry of Sport and Youth and USAID towards youth empowerment through creating opportunities for youth to participate positively in determining their own future, the future of their communities.“We support Youth in leadership skills through working directly with youth and companies working with youth.” Moore concluded.The conference aims to create mechanisms and regulations to support youth participation and how to activate their role in the community
