Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Mujawar has emphasized the importance of national dialogue with all political forces called by President Ali Abdullah Saleh in order to boost development and stability in Yemen.
In an interview with Asharq al-Awast newspaper in Taiz province after marking the twentieth anniversary of Unification Day, the premier also said that the secessionist movement in the south is politically-motivated and can't harm the national unity.Aden, Yemen's business capital, has benefited tenfold since the north and south reunified in 1990, he said.Mujawar also affirmed the importance of finalizing the Houthi file as he urged the Houthis to stop reluctance to hand landmine maps and reopen roads according to the terms of the ceasefire deal reached in February this year.He also highlighted the war on al-Qaeda saying the organization exists in the country and it is already affecting its economy and security. He pointed to the preemptive terror operations carried out in the south and north in late last year and early this year in which dozens of terrorist suspects were killed, wounded and arrested. The operations were devastating blows to al-Qaeda, he said. However, he criticized the media exaggeration about al-Qaeda saying all reports on its role in Yemen, most of which describing Yemen as a safe haven for terrorism, were exaggerating so far.Yemen has not been and never will be so and reports like these are rejected because they are merely baseless, he said. The security authorities control terrorists in remote areas, he said, pointing to major efforts within the war on al-Qaeda hailed by regional countries and the international community as a model.
